Zero Amount Authorization

Zero-Amount Authorization (Zero-Auth) is a transaction used to verify a card’s validity without charging the customer. The merchant submits an authorization request for an amount of 0.00, and the card issuer confirms whether the card is active and can be used for future payments.

Typical use cases:

  1. Card verification: Ensures the card exists and is valid before allowing the customer to proceed.
  2. Card-on-file setup: Allows the merchant to securely store card details for future or recurring payments (Subsequent Merchant-Initiated Transactions).
